Terms & Conditions
Your Rights At A Glance
The detail is below and it is worth reading before you order. These four are the ones people ask about most. Nothing in this box replaces the full terms.
Cancel any order for any reason within 14 days of delivery, then 14 more days to send it back. No explanation needed.
If something is faulty, not as described or unfit for purpose, you can reject it outright for a full refund.
Helix, Brax and Match all carry a manufacturer warranty handled in the UK, on top of your statutory rights.
Pre-order lead times are estimates, not promises. Cancel any time before dispatch and get every penny back.
Who We Are
This website is operated by [Your Registered Company Name], trading as Car Audio Shop, a company registered in England and Wales under company number [Company Number], with its registered office at [Registered Address, Town, Postcode].
Where these terms say we, us or our, that means Car Audio Shop. Where they say you, that means the person placing the order.
You can reach us at info@caraudioshop.co.uk or through the contact page.
About These Terms
These terms apply to every order placed through caraudioshop.co.uk. By placing an order you agree to them, so please read them first. We recommend saving or printing a copy for your records.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, not the current one. The date at the top shows when this version came into effect.
Nothing in these terms reduces the rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Where anything here conflicts with those, the law wins.
Placing An Order
Putting something in your basket is not an order, and our order confirmation email is not an acceptance. It simply confirms we received the request.
A contract exists between us only when we send the dispatch confirmation. If we cannot supply an item, we will tell you and refund anything already paid in full.
- You place the order and we email a confirmation of receipt
- We check stock, pricing and, where relevant, fitment
- We dispatch and email you a dispatch confirmation. The contract starts here
- Tracking follows so you can see where the parcel is
We may decline an order where the item is out of stock, where there is an error in the price or description, where we cannot verify payment, or where we suspect fraud. We will always tell you why.
Prices And Payment
All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate where applicable. Delivery is charged separately and shown before you confirm the order, so there are no surprises at the last step.
Payment is taken at the point of order. We do not see or store your full card details. Payment is handled entirely by our payment providers.
If a price is wrong
We work hard to keep prices accurate, but errors happen. If we spot a pricing error before dispatch we will contact you and give you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund. We will never simply charge you more without asking.
Where a pricing error is obvious and you could reasonably have recognised it as a mistake, we are not obliged to supply at the wrong price.
Product Information And Fitment
We describe products as accurately as we can, using manufacturer data alongside our own experience. Images are illustrative. Finishes, packaging and included accessories can change without notice when a manufacturer revises a product.
Fitment advice
We are happy to check whether something suits your vehicle, and we would rather you asked than guessed. Advice we give is based on the information you provide about your car.
Please check the fit yourself before installation. Vehicle specifications vary between model years, facelifts, trim levels and factory audio options, sometimes within the same registration year. Once an item has been fitted or modified it can no longer be returned as unwanted.
If you are unsure, send us the make, model, year and trim before ordering, along with a photo of the existing speaker or door card if you can. Checking first costs nothing and saves a return.
Delivery
We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom. Delivery costs and estimated timescales are shown at checkout before you pay.
| Service | Estimate | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Standard, UK mainland | 2 to 4 working days | Free over £50, otherwise shown at checkout |
| Highlands, islands and offshore | 3 to 7 working days | Calculated at checkout |
| Pre-order items | See section 10 | As above, charged once |
Timescales are estimates, not guarantees. We are not responsible for delays caused by the courier, by weather, or by an incorrect or incomplete delivery address.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. If a parcel arrives damaged, tell us within a few days with photographs of the item and the outer packaging so we can raise it with the courier.
If nobody is available and the courier cannot leave the parcel safely, redelivery or collection is arranged directly with them. Parcels returned to us as undelivered will be refunded less the outbound delivery cost.
Cancelling An Order
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel most orders within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason. You then have a further 14 days to return the goods to us.
- Tell us you are cancelling. Email is fine, a form is not required
- Send the goods back within 14 days of telling us
- We refund within 14 days of receiving them, or of proof of return
Condition of returns
Goods must come back complete, unused and in their original packaging with everything that came in the box. You may inspect an item as you would in a shop, but not use or install it.
We may reduce a refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to check the item.
Return costs
You pay the cost of returning an unwanted item and we recommend a tracked service, because until it reaches us it remains your responsibility. Where an item is faulty or wrongly supplied, we pay.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. We refund the standard delivery cost you paid, but not any upgrade to a faster service.
When cancellation does not apply
| Situation | Why |
|---|---|
| The item has been fitted or installed | It can no longer be resold as new |
| The item was made or configured to order | Personalised goods are excluded by the Regulations |
| Sealed items opened after delivery | Where the seal protects hygiene or licensed software |
| Business and trade purchases | The Regulations protect consumers, not businesses. See section 14 |
None of the above affects your rights if an item turns out to be faulty. Those are covered in the next section.
Faulty Or Misdescribed Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 everything we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you have the following rights and we will not make you argue for them.
| When | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Within 30 days | Reject the item outright and get a full refund |
| Within 6 months | One repair or replacement. If that fails, a refund or price reduction. The fault is assumed to have been there from the start unless we can show otherwise |
| After 6 months | Repair, replacement or a partial refund, though you may need to show the fault was present at delivery |
Contact us before returning anything faulty. In some cases the manufacturer needs the item sent directly, or the courier needs to collect it, and sending it back unannounced can slow the process down.
These rights do not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, accident, misuse, unauthorised modification, or normal wear such as a blown driver from sustained overpowering.
Manufacturer Warranty
Everything we sell is genuine stock supplied through official UK channels, so it carries the full manufacturer warranty. Warranty length varies by brand and product, and is stated on the product page or in the box.
Because we buy through official supply, we can escalate a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf rather than leaving you to chase it. Keep your order confirmation, as it is your proof of purchase.
A warranty is offered in addition to your statutory rights, never instead of them.
Equipment bought outside official UK supply often carries no valid UK warranty even when it looks identical. We do not sell grey stock, and we cannot support warranty claims on items bought elsewhere.
Pre-orders And Lead Times
Some products, particularly Brax and certain Helix models, are built in small batches in Germany and are listed as pre-order. We would rather show an honest lead time than a fake stock level.
- Any lead time we quote is our best estimate based on manufacturer information. It is not a guarantee
- Payment is taken at the point of order, which is what reserves your place in the queue
- If a date moves, we will tell you as soon as we know rather than letting the date pass quietly
- You can cancel a pre-order at any time before dispatch for a full refund, no reason needed
- Your 14 day cancellation period still starts on delivery, not on the order date
Where an order contains both pre-order and in stock items, we will tell you whether it ships complete or in parts. Split delivery is at no extra cost to you.
If a manufacturer discontinues a pre-ordered product, we will contact you with the closest alternative or refund in full. The choice is yours.
Your Account
You do not need an account to order, but one makes tracking and reordering easier.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that takes place under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has gained access.
We may suspend or close an account where these terms have been broken, where there is evidence of fraud, or where the account is being used to abuse our returns process. We will explain why.
Using This Website
You may use this site for browsing and buying. You may not use it to break the law, to interfere with how it works, or to extract data at scale.
- Do not scrape, copy or republish our product descriptions, photography or page content
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its servers
- Do not introduce anything malicious, or place unreasonable load on the site
The design, text, images and code on this site belong to us or our suppliers and are protected by copyright. Brand names and logos belong to their respective owners and appear here to identify genuine products we stock.
We try to keep the site available at all times, but we may suspend it for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control, without notice.
Our Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if it was discussed between us before you ordered.
What we do not limit
We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer.
What we are not responsible for
- Damage to a vehicle, its wiring, its electrical system or other equipment caused by installation, whether carried out by you or by a third party
- Loss caused by using a product in a way the manufacturer does not recommend
- Business losses. We supply for private use, and if you buy for a business we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption
Fitting car audio involves working with a vehicle's electrical system. If you are not confident doing that safely, use a qualified installer.
Trade And Business Customers
If you are buying in the course of a business, you are not a consumer, and consumer protections such as the 14 day cancellation right do not apply to your order.
Business orders are accepted on the basis that you have satisfied yourself the goods are suitable for your purpose. Returns of unwanted stock are at our discretion and may carry a restocking charge.
If you install for customers and would like to discuss trade terms, get in touch and tell us roughly what volume and which brands.
Complaints And Events Outside Our Control
If something has gone wrong, tell us first. Most problems are a misunderstanding and we would far rather fix one quickly than have it escalate. Email info@caraudioshop.co.uk with your order number and what happened.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and resolve them within fourteen. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme or take the matter to court.
Events outside our control
We are not liable for failing to perform, or for delay, where the cause is outside our reasonable control. That includes courier failure, supplier failure, extreme weather, fire, flood, industrial action, and interruption to power or telecommunications.
If such an event affects your order we will contact you as soon as possible, and you may cancel for a full refund if the delay is substantial.
General And Governing Law
These terms are between you and us. Nobody else has the right to enforce them.
If a court finds any part of these terms unlawful, the rest continues to apply. If we delay enforcing something, that does not stop us enforcing it later.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, and we will always tell you in writing if that happens. You may only transfer yours to someone else if we agree in writing.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and both parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
Ask before you order rather than after. We would rather spend five minutes now than sort out a return later.
